Nextlimit Technologies, the makers of Maxwell Render and RealFlow fluid simulator, have released a physics engine for Unity. CaronteFX is billed as an off-line animation tool with advanced physics features including high quality collision detection, soft and rigid bodies, fabric-on-fabric, and fracturing and mesh tools. Physics simulations are baked in the Editor for playback at runtime.
Maxwell Render is just shy of $1000 for a single license and RealFlow is just under two grand, so while the price of CaronteFX at $95 is on the high end for Unity Assets it’s a relative bargain from the company. Currently only available for PC, but an osX version is promised.
